Some residents questioned the quality of foods and wondered why Publix or Whole Foods was not considered to fill the vacancy left behind when Harveys vacated the store front. The original Piggly Wiggly Corporation became owner of all Piggly Wiggly properties: the name, the patents, etc., and Saunders began issuing stock in the Corporation. While most people have been supportive of the new arrival, there have also been critics. Plans may be underway to open another store on Tharpe Street. The group operates stores in North Florida and South Georgia - Panama City, Quincy, Sneads and Donalsonville, Georgia.
